ADVENT SERVICES

WEEK 1: BE PRESENT WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6
1:00 & 7:30 p.m.
Jesus was born at Christmas to be present with us, so a very important part of Advent then, is to be present with one another and with God. Think of things you can do to just be present with someone this week. Can you sit with a classmate who is alone at recess? Can you play a game your brother or sister wants to play with you? Can you eat lunch or dinner with a new friend? Can you take time to pray to Jesus before you go to bed each night? Can you go to church for a special event this Advent season? When you do these things, you are being present for others this Advent season.

WEEK 2: SEND PEACE WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13
1:00 & 7:30 p.m.
No matter what is going on in our lives and in the world, we always need to remember the fact that Jesus means peace to the whole earth. Any battles that are going on, any arguments people are having, any divisions that have happened, can all be healed by Jesus. He has come to mend the broken, the bind up the scattered, to restore order to things. He accomplished this through his death on the cross. There he pieced the world back to together by destroying the power of sin. When he died, he made everything right between us and God again, and because we have peace with God, we now have peace with one another.

WEEK 3: SHARE JOY WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20
1:00 p.m.
God has given us this wonderful good news in the Bible that Jesus is born for us. We enjoy this good news even more than Christmas cookies, and we are filled with joy and happiness because Jesus came to save us through his life, death and resurrection. That good news make us feel good inside! It makes us feel so good inside that we want to share it, like we share Christmas cookies, so that people we know can be filled with happiness and joy because of the good news of Jesus Christ.
