Pastor Luhring, Penny Mueller, Faith Smith, Rita Bergman, Sandy Joost, Sheryl Frederick. If you are a good listener and a compassionate person, prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister. Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry: the identity of those receiving care and what takes place in each caring relationship remains private. Pray for Recruitment of New Stephen Ministers: That God would reveal to them any unresolved resentment or anger they may be harboring toward God or people (Hebrews 12:15). WHAT’S
HAPPENING AT ST. JOHN LUTHERAN SCHOOL
Students returned to St. John on Monday August 23, for the first day of the new school year. After a Chapel Service led by Pastor Schmidt and an opening assembly, students returned to their classrooms with a great deal of enthusiasm and excitement to begin their year of Christian education and growth.
STEWARDSHIP CORNER
In the Old Testament, God’s people were asked to tithe or give ten percent of their harvest or livestock. In the New Testament too, our admonition is clear, “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income…” The percentage amount to give is not stated, but we are to give in proportion to how God blesses us. Many of the examples of giving in the New Testament surpassed ten percent. Zacchaeus gave 50 percent of his income to the poor; the Macedonians gave beyond their ability; and the poor widow gave all that she had. We are to seek God’s guidance as to what He wants us to give.

OFFICE MAX-STAPLES AND OFFICE DEPOT RECYCLING PROGRAMS
We are signed up for three different toner and inkjet recycling programs, The cartridges that Office Max does not accept are recycled at Office Depot and Staples. A very helpful volunteer drives to Ft Wayne or Toledo and drops off the cartridges for Office Depot and Staples. Each program is a little different, however if I order online with a $50.00 order or more then the shipping is free. The recycling program helps defray the cost of the church and school office supplies.Thank you for turning in your cartridges and KEEP THEM COMING. A recycle box is located at the south entrance reception area.
