From Zech...

I am very much looking forward to meeting all of you and learning about the special things that make you all unique. My name is Zechary Teasdale. I am attending Concordia University Chicago. I have gone there for four years and am now on my final year of internship here at St. John Lutheran Church. I first met pastor a little over a month ago and since then I have been ecstatic to get here. I have been greatly looking forward to coming here to serve with you and for you. I was born in Waupaca, WI. I have three brothers and no sisters. I know…poor mom. I moved to Fort Wayne, IN when I was eight and lived there until I went off to Chicago. I enjoy playing sports. I played football and basketball in High school. I am a huge fan of a little game called Ultimate Frisbee. I like card games especially euchre and Pinochle. I like to snowboard, ski, wakeboard, tube, and all those other fun activities. I also enjoy riding horses even though I am not very good. While attending Concordia Chicago I was part of a few different ministry opportunities. I hosted lock-ins and retreats for churches with a CYM (Concordia Youth Ministries) team. Doing this really reinforced my passions about serving the Lord, especially when it comes to encouraging people and sharing his word with them. There have been a lot of people in my life who have had huge influences on me. Both my parents have been there for me whenever I needed them and always encouraged me to maintain a relationship with Christ. My brothers also have influenced me greatly although it certainly wasn’t always easy for us to get along. Like I said would like to get to know all of you so feel free to call, text, or email me. Finally I love reading the Bible and learning more and more about what God has done for all of us. A few of my favorite passages are Matthew 6:25-34, 1 Peter 5:7, Eph 3:8a, and John 14 especially verse 27. I do ask for you to pray for me as I do my best to serve you. If there any of you have questions, need to talk, or just need some prayer please feel free to visit with me.

National Youth Gathering 2010 New Orleans, LA

for 8th-12 Graders

The National Youth Gathering is something that you simply do not want to miss. It happens every 3 years for 8th-12th graders. If your child is currently in those grades they are eligible to come. How can we make this happen? Well each kids will cost around $1,000 and we know that this is probably not something you can afford right now. But luckily we have planned ahead and have a way to make it affordable for you to come.

BOARD OF YOUTH

The Youth Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. For more information call Youth Director Dave McGinley at 419-782-5766. The Youth Bulletin Board is located in the hallway next to the gym and has the schedule of events for both the Junior and Senior High Youth.

YOUTH MISSION STATEMENT

St. John Congregation through the Youth Board, Pastor, and Counselors, provides settings for Christian youth to demonstrate the mission of the Church in word and life and for unchurched youth to be exposed to the call of God in the Gospel. We provide Christian fellowship as we study God’s Word, and serve the Lord and His Church.

We provide youth the opportunity to share their unique gifts in ministry to one another within the Christian community and in ministry to the world as the witnessing people of God. We provide activities for youth that will establish a closer relationship with Christ, with other Christian youth, and with the unclaimed youth in our community.

To accomplish this task, we will provide a variety of settings, resources, and training so that the youth and the adults with whom they relate may “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever!” (II Peter 3:18).
