Here's What's Happening in Our Youth Ministry!

Well we had a pretty exciting and eventful summer. We enjoyed our trip to Cedar Point we went to Pine Lake, and we had a very impact week praising and serving God in Seymour, IN. We have had two successful fundraisers with both the fair and the garage sale. We thank the Lord for His guidance and involvement in all those activities. This fall on September 7th, we will b starting a new year of Cross Training. We sure very excited about this year and we pray that the Lord works through us to bring His message to the students. In September we will be having a few fun days for the youth group. On September 11th and 18th we will be doing some fun activities and games with short devotions. On September 25th, Robb Shaffer will be sharing a message with our youth about a man names Brock Mealer, who was injured in a car accident a few years back. This man was paralyzed from the waist down, but managed to walk out on the Michigan football field with the help of crutches.

Pie Pan Appreciation!

The Pie Pan fundraiser is an event that takes quite a bit of work. If you were one of the many people that helped out our youth by either volunteering your time there, or buying your food there we GREATLY appreciate it. Our youth would be unable to attend incredible events like the National Youth Gathering without your assistance!

Youth Looking to Serve

After our youth group returned from our service week in Indiana they were so excited to serve that they decided they wanted to continue serving the Lord here in Defiance, OH. So we are looking for anyone here at St. John, or in Defiance, OH who could use the help of our youth. We would like to have a Sunday Night once a month where we get together and serve. If you could use help raking leaves, moving heavy furniture, cleaning hard to reach places, cleaning gutters, washing outside windows, painting etc. Please call Zech at 260-348-1566. We ask that you spread the word so that our youth can continue to learn about what it means to truly serve one another in love.

BOARD OF YOUTH

The Youth Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. For more information call Youth Intern Zech Teasdale at 419-782-5766. The Youth Bulletin Board is located in the hallway next to the gym and has the schedule of events for both the Junior and Senior High Youth.

YOUTH MISSION STATEMENT

St. John Congregation through the Youth Board, Pastor, and Counselors, provides settings for Christian youth to demonstrate the mission of the Church in word and life and for unchurched youth to be exposed to the call of God in the Gospel. We provide Christian fellowship as we study God’s Word, and serve the Lord and His Church.

We provide youth the opportunity to share their unique gifts in ministry to one another within the Christian community and in ministry to the world as the witnessing people of God. We provide activities for youth that will establish a closer relationship with Christ, with other Christian youth, and with the unclaimed youth in our community.

To accomplish this task, we will provide a variety of settings, resources, and training so that the youth and the adults with whom they relate may “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever!” (II Peter 3:18).
